Region leads the way in earning while learning

In other parts of the UK, apprenticeships are in decline but Ian Lamming discovers they are thriving in the North East with college providers recognised as among the best in Britain
  • Apprenticeship Levy was introduced in 2017 to be paid by all employers with a wage bill over £3m in order to boost training
  • Big decline in national start-ups but North East colleges help the region buck the trend
  • Employers benefit from proactive approach with better equipped staff joining their workforces
