How to Create WordPress categories #
To create new categories in WordPress, go to “Posts” > “Edition” page.
On the left side of the page, you will see a tab that allows you to create categories. Fill in the category name, its slug (which will be used in the edition URLs), the category description, status and start date and end date then press “Add New Edition”.
Rules for editions :-
- The start date and the end date will save to the database and show on the website and to set the status.
- Statuses have three options
a) Upcoming edition
b) Current edition
c) Previous edition - Previous editions will show in the Previous edition page and when a previous edition is selected. All of the posts of that edition will be shown in the Specific edition page. All draft posts in that edition will be published.
- Upcoming edition functionality is coming soon.
- Current edition posts will show on the Homepage.
- There can be multiple edition with the current edition status. But it is not recommended as there will be multiple edition posts will be in the homepage which can slow your website. So please ensure you retire the current edition before setting a new one
