Kynren – An Epic Tale of England
The return of the North East outdoor theatre spectacular, Kynren – An Epic Tale of England will be offering a new element of pre-show proceedings this summer.
The County Durham attraction, which transports audiences through 2,000 years of English history is recreating a Viking village – complete with cookhouse, cottages and a working blacksmith’s forge – for people to enjoy before they take their seats.
Since its launch in 2016, the spectacular outdoor show has attracted tens of thousands of people to Bishop Auckland with its large-scale sets, choreography, dramatic combat scenes, stunts, horsemanship, pyrotechnics and special effects, including water jets and state of the art video projections.
The epic production features a 1,000-strong volunteer cast and crew and is performed on a 7.5 acre stage in the ‘back garden’ of Auckland Castle.
As well as the addition of a Viking village, Kynren is also welcoming a new equine cast member for 2024 – namely Knutsford Cosmopolitan, a majestic grey shire horse.
Kynren takes place on Saturday evenings from July 27 to September 14, 2024. Tickets are on sale from the Kyren website.
