Making the right call on mental health
Northumbria Police has joined forces with mental health charity Everyturn which will base staff in the control room to support crisis callers. Kevin Donald reports
- There has been 152% increase in mental health calls to Northumbria Police since 2017
- Region has had the highest suicide rate in the country for the last three years
- Safe Havens created in Ashington, Newcastle and North Tyneside to provide support where appropriate
